Antonella has arrived in Ghent for a 6 months stay since last week, coming from the University of Pisa in Italy. She is performing a joint PhD at the University of Pisa/Firenze and UGent (supervisors: Prof. Walter Salvatore (UPisa) and Prof. Robby Caspeele) and is focusing on the assessment of structural reliability and residual lifetime of existing bridges. The main goal of the research is the definition of a novel methodology for the evaluation of the structural reliability of existing bridges in real-time, through the implementation of structural monitoring data. The methodology will be validated through the application on two real bridges.
