Our vision on childcare

The university child care initiatives, each with their individual atmosphere and approach, endeavour to create a warm and cosy place where every child can feel at home.

Every child has a right to his or her own identity, which must be respected if the child is to grow up with a positive self-image and self-confidence. Our child care attendants therefore pay attention to the individual needs and requirements of each child.

Suitable toys and play activities are offered to accommodate children’s inquisitiveness. The linguistic development of the child, as well as their autonomy in the context of daily activities such as eating, drinking, dressing and undressing, washing and toilet-training, are stimulated.

Dealing with friends, learning to share, asking and giving, showing respect for each other, learning to handle mutual differences and different cultures, dealing with conflicts… all this is included in the social education of a child. Living together with children of the same age group provides the ideal room for experimentation. Playing together with the same children on a regular basis increases the level of their play and promotes the assimilation of positive social skills.

But any community also needs rules if a smooth coexistence is to be ensured. The rules that apply within the child care centre can be different from those at home, because the group approach may impose different standards. Learning to deal with such group rules is also part of the social skills of every child.

Adaptation moments

In our role as day care providers, we work together with the parents on the education of our children, and we therefore consider a good relationship with the parents to be of the utmost importance.

Coming to the child care centre for the first time is an important step for both the parents and the child. Building up trust takes time. We believe it is very important that you and your child feel at home at the day care centre as soon as possible.

In order to make the transition from home to the day care centre as smooth as possible for you and your child, we have devised the so-called adaptation moments.

This will enable you to exchange information with the child care personnel on food, sleeping patterns, comforting, playing and any other important issues for your child. And you, as a parent, will obtain a better insight into our day-to-day operation.
