Information for new students
Welcoming new students academic year 2022-2023
In the week before the start of the academic year (19-23 September), we organise welcome moments on campus for new students of the first year of the standard learning track (BA1). You get to know the faculty, the classrooms, your fellow students, etc. You also receive a lot of practical information so you can go to your first lesson well informed. Most student associations provide a tour of the campus afterwards.
We receive you before the start of your welcome moment in the entrance hall of campus Boekentoren, Blandijnberg 2. Students of Applied Language Studies are received on campus Mercator, Abdisstraat 1.
For the welcome activities of the study programmes Art History, Musicology and Theatre Studies and Linguistics and Literature, you need to register in advance (see below).

Do not forget to complete your enrolment by checking and/or supplementing your curriculum. Do this before 10 October 2022.

Timetables
Classes start on Monday 26 September 2022. You can find your personal timetable (based on your personal curriculum) at oasis.ugent.be. Log in with your Ghent University account and click on ‘my calendar’.
Books and syllabi
On the course sheets (study guide > choose your study programme > tab 'programme summary' > click on the course unit > open PDF of the course sheet) of the course units you can see which books or syllabi you need.
The student association of your study programme is responsible for the sale of books. During the welcome moment you will receive more information on how to obtain the course material.
- Study programme Applied Language Studies: from the beginning of September you will find the list of books and syllabi and all information regarding the purchase on the academic department website (in Dutch).
